Recovery of hydrocarbons from the subsurface represents a significant challenge, particularly as the industry migrates to deeper waters and attempts to maximise recovery from complex fields. 

Successful extraction of economically viable quantities of hydrocarbons requires a complete understanding of the subsurface structural configuration, and the associated variations in stress, pressure and rock properties. Present conditions can be attributed to the evolution of burial stresses, pressure, temperature, diagenetic processes and tectonics. Understanding the relative contributions of these factors can only be treated with a physics-based forward modelling approach. 

Utilising our software, Elfen fm and Elfen advanced, the evolution of geological structures can be studied and understood. This can be used to confirm the validity of structural restoration workflows, with the additional benefit of providing full stress, pressure, temperature and material state histories. These may be used to address uncertainties and provide a more complete subsurface interpretation.
